The Downtowners Association presents the 43rd Annual Downtowners Street Fair September 16-17 in Downtown Bismarck. Over 180 local, regional and national artists, crafters, and food vendors will line the streets of Downtown Bismarck for two days for Bismarck’s biggest reunion. Returning to this year’s Street Fair is The Monster Mural kid’s art activity and the “Busker’s Corner” featuring local musicians at 4th Street and Broadway Avenue. Patrons of the Street Fair are encouraged to support local musicians busking and throw a tip in the hat.
Hours for the 43rd Annual Downtowners Street Fair are Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The vendor map and listings will be available the week of the show online at www.downtownbismarck.com. This year’s Street Fair is completely full in all closed off areas, including returning and new vendors. More than two dozen local service clubs, non-profits, boy scout troops, churches, school groups and community organizations have booths in this year’s Street Fair, raising funds for their various causes and organizations. Street Fair began as Downtown “Customer Appreciation Days” in 1973. Later the organizers of Folkfest coordinated with the Downtowners to move their Folkfest event to the Street Fair weekend. This event is a fundraiser for the Downtowners’ non-profit 501c6 organization that promotes revitalization in the downtown area, as well as a fundraiser for a number of different local non-profits and service organizations in the Bismarck-Mandan area through vendor booths.
Parking for Street Fair patrons is available in the four city-owned parking ramps for $1 per hour or a maximum of $6 for an entire day. For more information on the city ramps visit www.bismarckparkingauthority.com. Streets utilized for Street Fair will be closed Thursday, Sept 15 at 5 p.m. Any vehicles left in the marked ‘no parking’ zones will be towed. Streets that will be closed are Broadway Ave from 3rd Street to 6th Street, 4th Street from Main Ave to Thayer Ave, and 5th Street from Main Ave to Thayer Ave, as well as all alleys leading into the Street Fair.
