Street Closure during 45th Downtowners’ Street Fair

During the 45th Annual Downtowners Street Fair, the following streets in downtown Bismarck will be closed from Thursday, September 13 at 5 p.m. to Saturday, September 15 at 11:59pm:

Broadway Avenue between 3rd Street & 6th Street, North 5th Street between Thayer Avenue & Main Avenue, North 4th Street between Thayer Avenue & Main Avenue, and all alleys leading into the closed streets.

Any car parking after 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 13 in these areas will be towed. ‘No parking’ signs were will be hung in affected areas on Monday September 10.  

Downtown Patrons are encouraged to utilize the public parking ramps during these times for additional parking.  Parking is $1/hr or a maximum of $6/day in the city owned ramps.  Information for the ramps can be found at www.bismarckparkingauthority.com.  Businesses in the event areas are also encouraged to schedule deliveries earlier if possible.

45th Annual Downtowners Street Fair September 14-15

The Downtowners Association presents the 45th Annual Downtowners Street Fair presented by the U.S. Army September 14-15 in Downtown Bismarck.  Over 180 local, regional and national artists, crafters, and food vendors will line the streets of Downtown Bismarck for two days for Bismarck’s biggest reunion. New to this year’s event the U.S. Army will be setting up at 5th & Broadway interacting with patrons, “Crack the Vault” contest sponsored by First Western Bank & Trust will challenge guest to crack the Street Fair money vault, and returning is the “Busker’s Corner” featuring local musicians.  Inflatable games will be set up in the Sanford Health parking lot northeast of 5th & Broadway.

Hours for the 45th Annual Downtowners Street Fair are Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The vendor map and listings will be available the week of the show online at www.downtownbismarck.com.   Various local service clubs, non-profits, boy scout troops, churches, school groups and community organizations have booths in this year’s Street Fair, raising funds for their various causes and organizations. Street Fair began as Downtown “Customer Appreciation Days” in 1973.  Later the organizers of Folkfest coordinated with the Downtowners to move their Folkfest event to the Street Fair weekend.   This event is a fundraiser for the Downtowners’ non-profit 501c6 organization that promotes revitalization in the downtown area, as well as a fundraiser for a number of different local non-profits and service organizations in the Bismarck-Mandan area through vendor booths.

Parking for Street Fair patrons is available in the four city-owned parking ramps for $1 per hour or a maximum of $6 for an entire day.  For more information on the city ramps visit www.bismarckparkingauthority.com.  Streets utilized for Street Fair will be closed Thursday, Sept 13 at  5 p.m. Any vehicles left in the marked ‘no parking’ zones will be towed.  Streets that will be closed are Broadway Ave from 3rd Street to 6th Street, 4th Street from Main Ave to Thayer Ave, and 5th Street from Main Ave to Thayer Ave, as well as all alleys leading into the Street Fair.
