New Business & New Projects
Growth is Picking up in Downtown Bismarck
The news coming from Downtown Bismarck is “we’re growing.” Ongoing projects and new businesses are encouraging continued interest in the downtown area. Here is some of the excitement that you’ll see downtown this summer.
American Bank Center- Downtown Campus
Last Tuesday, American Bank Center President Greg Vetter announced that the bank is constructing an additional building to create a downtown Bismarck campus. The Bank has acquired the property that once was the Dakota Twin Theater (4th and Rosser). Developer Loran Galpin started the project with a few tenant spaces in mind. Vetter and his board recognized the growth the bank was having and decided to take the whole building and create a downtown campus. Project completion is estimated for Summer 2012.
Lot 2029- Boutique
A new ‘fashion forward clothing and home boutique’ location is moving in on 4th St west of the Wells Fargo building. After a major interior and exterior renovation, the boutique is finishing the final touches and hopes to be open within a month or less.
Broadway Centre- Mixed Use
Many of us have seen the demolition at the old Wilhelm Car Lot in west downtown (Broadway & Mandan). According to plans submitted by owner Steve Pine, the building will be both residential and commercial. Pine purchased the entire city block for the project. The initial plans are to have spacious condos on the third floor and commercial/retail on the main level including a restaurant. This is one of the biggest projects in downtown Bismarck, with an estimated price tag of $23-27 million. Pine is looking at Spring 2013 for completion.
Hey Ocean- West Coast Lifestyle Store
Owner Michelle Kaufman is a Bismarck native with West Coast history. Kaufman lived in Washington for some years before moving back to her hometown with plans to open her own store. She will carry clothing, home décor, accessories, and will also be able to custom print clothing for teams, businesses, and others. Look for Hey Ocean to open on Broadway Ave next to White Lace Bridal.
Other Expansions and New Looks
Heartview has remodeled their building, moving the main entrance and foyer to the south side of the building. Steel has gone up on the new
UND Family Medicine building between the two hospitals on Rosser Ave.
The Blarney Stone Irish Pub has begun remodeling their new expansion space. They are looking to finishit late summer or early fall.
B&B, Real Estate, etc….
-A Bed & Breakfast looking to open up across from the Library has received Renaissance Zone approval for their project. The recommendation goes to the City Commission for consideration, then to the State.
