Local Brewpub to Open Downtown

Laughing Sun Brewing Finds 5th St Home…

“We need a brewpub in Bismarck” is something we had heard a lot of in the past couple years.  Microbrews are hugely popular, even in surrounding states like Minnesotaand Montana.  Now Bismarck will have its first brewhouse.  Located on 5th Street in the former Latitudes Gallery space, Laughing Sun Brewery will be one of the first of its kind in not only in Downtown Bismarck, but the state.

“Downtown is a great location for us. It’s become a hub of activity in the Bismarck area, and it’s only getting better. Becoming part of that vibrant community seems like a great fit for us and the business,” said partner Mike Frohlich. So what will this brewery be like? “The concept of Laughing Sun Brewing Company will be a small brewpub making the freshest ales in the area. The brewhouse will be visible to the public, and the pub will seat around 70 guests. We will offer 5 regular taps and a 6th rotating seasonal, and we plan on hosting one-time tapping events for some special styles. The pub won’t have a kitchen, but we will offer some unique appetizers,” said Frohlich.

The brewpub is joining a number of new businesses, restaurants, and bars in the Downtown area, along with veteran establishments, creating our viable small Urban Center.

For more information on Laughing Sun Brewery, look for them on Facebook.  “Laughing Sun Brewing”.  Cheers!

Downtown Updates

— BNC Bank’s Downtown Lobby Location will be serving Root beer Floats and collecting Good Will Donations Thursday, May 17  from 12pm-2pm, with proceeds supporting the summer activities for the children staying in the Abused Adult Resource Center’s two shelters. With summer upon us there is a need for play equipment as well as entrance and activity fees for the children.  These funds are scarce so come out and enjoy a “cool drink” and donate to a wonderful cause.

— Free After Hour Parking is now available at the 3rd and Main Ramp.  The Bismarck Parking Authority is offering free evening parking from 4pm to 2am daily through the end of the year.  With all the new activity and nightlife in Downtown Bismarck, the ramps will allow the public to enjoy the city center and not have to look for street parking.  Simply park once in the ramp and experience all Downtown has to offer.

How the After Hour Complementary Parking Works: Use the entrance to the 3rd & Main Ramp on 3rd Street.  Pull into the ramp and pull a time stamped ticket.  The arm will raise and allow the car through to park.  When exiting the ramp, simply use the hourly lane and deposit your ticket in the slot, the arm will already be raised to allow the cars to exit. There is no leeway on timing.  If you enter at 3:59pm or exit at 2:01am, the customer will be charged the normal hourly rate.

— The No “Reparking” signs are continuing to be installed Downtown.  The No “Reparking” ordinance is now in effect; however there will be a warning for your first offense. The Bismarck Police Department is no longer marking tires with chalk as a monitoring system for timed parking.  Instead they will use a handheld computer that will track the vehicles more accurately.  Please let your customers and employees know of the new system.

–The 20th Annual Williston Basin Petroleum Conference will be in Bismarck May 22-24.  This is a very large conference and with almost 2,800 attendees from oil related industries.  The three-day conference will bring people from all over the country to Bismarck.  Be sure to mark your calendars as there will surely be visitors looking to explore Downtown Bismarck.
