The Downtowners Staff attended and presented at the Mayor’s Livability Summit on March 9 at the BSC- National Energy Center of Excellence. The summit included 28 speakers from stakeholders to community leaders that touched on a variety of topics such as: Education, Art, Humanities and Recreation, Commerce and Development, Business and Innovation and Community Services and Healthcare. Two keynote speakers presented at the event, Monsignor James Shea- President of the University of Mary, who kicked off the summit program with the opening remarks and Governor Doug Burgum who touched on his Main Street Initiative and creating vibrant communities. The purpose of the summit was to gather input, share how to cultivate growth and discuss the investment in the future of our City making Bismarck a global community of choice. An overview of the responses from the Community Livability Survey were discussed by Mayor Mike Seminary. There were 1,240 public responses gathered from the survey with more detail to come after responses have been fully analyzed. The event was hosted by the Mayor’s Economic Development Advisory Group, a group of young professionals and community leaders.
