The Downtowners held a Main Ave Info Session on June 22 for members located on Main Ave to discuss the upcoming improvements to the roadway. After a brief presentation, members had a Q&A with city staff and the Downtowners. Overall the feedback was positive for the upcoming trial run and members were able to give feedback on the current roadway issues. A trial run of the new configuration will run from Washington to 6th St for the bulk of the summer. The new configuration, which is a part of the Downtown Sub-Area Study plan, reconfigures the Main Ave roadway from 4 lanes with no dedicated turn lane– to 3 lanes using a dedicated left turn lane. Parking will remain unchanged. The new configuration improves safety and the pedestrian environment. Another upcoming info session will be planned in the near future.
