Local Election Results
Last week voters weighed in on a number of local contests including City Commission, Park Board, School Board, and more.  Bismarck City Commission results saw incumbent Nancy Guy retain her seat and newcomer Greg Zenker fill the seat vacated by Josh Askvig.  Mayoral election results will also have newcomer Steve Bakken starting a first term next Tuesday.  Commissioners Oban and Marquardt were not up for re-election.  Next steps for the commission will be new portfolio assignments and meetings with department heads.  The commission will transition to the new board Tuesday evening for their first meeting. City Commission meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.  To learn more about the new board members, click below.

Dakota West Arts Council (DWAC) and Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD) have partnered together to create, install and fill Poetry Boxes throughout Bismarck’s parks. The goal of the Poetry Boxes is to showcase local poetry- or the sharing of a favorite poem- for all to enjoy while strolling, walking or riding through a park. If you are interested in sharing your poetry, simply write or type an 8 ½ by 11” piece of paper, lifting the Poetry Box lid, and inserting the poem. If there is already a poem in the box, please remove it before inserting a new one. Find a poetry box in one of the BPRD parks:
