Just one week until the expanded 2nd Annual Downtowners German Days starts! We’re kicking off Thursday evening this year with a Ceremonial Keg Tapping. Food vendors have been expanded from 5 to 1o, and 7 beers to 9 for year two! Volkswagen of Bismarck, our title partner for the event, will have great German giveaways and activities at their booth. Polka and clogging will be showcased all three days! Join us for Bismarck’s Biggest German Celebration at the Depot July 14-16. Thursday 5-11pm, Friday and Saturday 11am-11pm. Parking is available in the ramps Downtown.

Member Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network will celebrate the first annual Young Professionals Day. Young professionals from the Bismarck-Mandan community will partner with the State Historical Society on July 15 from 12pm-5pm to paint buildings and help with others restoration projects at Camp Hancock in Downtown Bismarck. Food will be available throughout the day along with the opportunity for free will donations that will benefit the State Historical Society. YP Members and Non-Members are all welcome to join. Member Dakota Stage Ltd. present Faery Free For All, a whimsical, fanciful show that is fun for the whole family. Dakota Stage Ltd. will hold its run of Shade Tree Player’s Faery Free For All at the Frances Leach High Prairie Arts & Science Complex located at 1810 Schafer St. in Bismarck. July 14-16 and 21-23. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students, seniors and military and may be purchased at the door on the day of the show. Main Ave Road Diet Demonstration Project has been in place for nearly two weeks in Downtown Bismarck from the Washington overpass to 6th Street. Feedback at the public information meeting was mostly positive, signal light timing and possible left protected turn arrows were suggestions at the meetings– as well as returning Broadway Ave to full two-way traffic. Public comments can be given through the city’s website for the duration of the demonstration period.
The State Historical Society of North Dakota, was recently named North Dakota’s host for “First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare,” on tour from the Folger Shakespeare Library. The First Folio exhibition will be open to the public July 6-31 at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum. The State Historical Society, in partnership with Capitol Shakespeare, will also offer programs in Bismarck throughout the month including a chamber music group, a children’s Renaissance faire, a teacher workshop, performances of “Much Ado About Nothing,” and more.
