Thanks to our Downtowners members: High Country Coca-Cola, First Western Bank & Trust, Magic Photo Art, Red Wing Shoe Store, Humanities ND, and Magi-Touch Carpet One for volunteering for Downtown Clean Up Day July 2! Volunteers cleaned the city’s planting beds, swept under benches, picked up trash and emptied cigarette butt holders. It’s lookin’ good just in time for the 4th of July. Give a hoot, don’t pollute!

Members joined Downtowners staff and Officers Brocker and Fuller to learn about the Bismarck Police Departments new Community Policing Initiative included a program called Business Watch. Community Policing it similar to the old Neighborhood Watch program, but with new technology, a new city district system, and education on the Tip 411 system. The purpose to get more eyes on the community, knowing your neighbors and assisting police. Business Watch works with Bismarck’s businesses to form watch teams and educate businesses on lighting, security cameras, etc. Members also had questions about panhandling and were able to chat with police about a number of topics.
