Jan. 27 Downtown News

New(ish) Annual Event!Sifting through some old documents and boxes at the Downtowners, we came across a photo album from the 1990s.  In the album were various pictures of events past, and one in particular, the Downtowners Annual Meeting and Awards.  Members gathered for networking, an update on the Association and an awards presentation.  We thought why not bring that tradition back!?
February 23, we’ll be hosting the Downtowners Annual Social and Awards at BAGA (Bismarck Art & Galleries Association).  We’re also starting another new yearly tradition at this event, two new recognition awards.  The Downtown Bismarck Volunteer of the Year Award, and the June & Jim Thompson Downtown Leadership Award.  Each year we’ll honor two of our members with these awards and celebrate the harding working folks that make Downtown Bismarck the thriving core of the community.
There will be great food, drinks, door prizes, and music!  Our Art & Wine Walk 2014 Artist winners The Flea Bitten Tramps will be rocking this social the Downtown way.  Tickets for the event can be purchased here, as well as group event sponsorships.Tickets:

Downtown News

Bismarck Future’s has announced a large scale development project on 5th Street just west of the Bismarck Event (Civic) Center.  Chairman Bruce Whittey, longtime Downtowner and Bismarck developer, joined the Downtowners on their monthly talk radio show to discuss the project.  Whittey said the Downtown Master Plan spurred his group to kicking off this phase of development.  He believes private developers will lead many of the efforts laid out in the Downtown Master Plan.  Bismarck Futures, along with Cardon Development, is planning 300-400 apartments, commercial space, a full-service hotel with additional parking structures as part of the overall plan.  Click here to read more: http://bit.ly/1uxBSBW
