Applications for the Renaissance Zone Program are now up on the City’s website!
The Renaissance Zone program provides tax exemptions and credits to both residents and businesses for revitalization and redevelopment activities within the Zone, as shown in the above map. The purpose of the Zone is to encourage reinvestment in downtown properties, which in turn strengthens the core of our community. The Renaissance Zone provides both property tax and income tax incentives to property and business owners who invest in qualified projects. There are five different types of Renaissance Zone projects: rehabilitation, new construction, purchase with major improvements, lease, and historical rehabilitation.
A Renaissance Zone project must be approved by both the City of Bismarck and the North Dakota Department of Commerce before the qualifying activity occurs (purchase, new construction, lease, or rehabilitation).
Applications for Renaissance Zone and Downtown Design Review projects are due at 5 p.m. on the Monday, twenty-four days prior to a Renaissance Zone Authority meeting (as shown on the Meeting Schedule and Application Deadlines on the City’s website).
