1st Main Street Summit Wraps Up!

 Nearly 700 gathered for the Governor’s two-day interactive Main Street ND Summit at the Bismarck Event Center on Feb 12 -13. The Main Street Summit brought in local and national community leaders, developers, advocates and others to share best practices and engage community leaders, entrepreneurs and students in envisioning the future of North Dakota.
Governor Doug Burgum announced twenty-nine communities thus far have joined the Main Street Initiative and expects that number to keep growing. The Main Street Initiative gives community leaders a direct access point to a variety of resources helping capitalize on strengths and make sound planning decisions.
Some keynote speakers, and strong Main Street advocates included: Bob Gibbs (Gibbs Planing Group), Roger Brooks (Roger Brooks International) and Charles Marohn (Founder/President of Strong Towns).

BMSO: Dixieland 
Member Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra presents the annual Dixieland Jazz concert on Friday, February 16 at Sixteen03 Main Events. The Dixieland Bad is led by BMSO trumpeter and UMary Director of Bands, Dennis Gowen. The mix of food, jazz and a festive ambiance promises to make the evening a hit for anyone. Think&Drink: Justice in Harry Potter
Humanities of North Dakota will be hosting another Think&Drink on February, 25 at the Laughing Sun Brewing Co. Think&Drink is a happy-hour series that sparks provocative conversations about big ideas. This month’s topic of discussion will be “Justice in Harry Potter,” the underlying theme of “justice,” and what it means in the novels and movies, in the context of their creation, and as they continue to be received produced today.
