Patterson Renovations Move Closer

A ‘Purchase with Improvements’ for the Patterson building was unanimously approved for Renaissance Zone designation by the Bismarck City Commission December 18.  Schuett Development is proposing a more than $7 million dollar investment in the HUD Section 8 housing areas, as well as needed repairs and rehabilitation to the property.  The property will continue to provide HUD Section 8 housing for low income, elderly, and disabled residents in accordance with the existing HUD contract running though 2024.
The Patterson Hotel, an iconic Bismarck and Downtown landmark, was building in 1910 and had a major renovation in the early 1980s.  The building had been condemned prior to the 1982 rehabilitation.  It currently houses 117 living units, as well as main floor restaurant and retail.  The application now moves on to the state and Downtown Design Review for consideration.

New Housing Coming to Downtown Bismarck
Denizen Partners hope to start construction of 630 Main in the spring of 2019. 630 Main is a 3-story, mixed-use building with 52 apartments and small-scaled ground floor retail space. Attainable market housing has is a needed component in the downtown area, and this addition will hopefully fill that gap.
Denizen Partners are looking for investors and people to lease both commercial and residential space. Daniel Companies will be leasing out the smaller-sized ground floor commercial spaces.
630 Main is located at the corner of 7th Street and Main Ave in Downtown Bismarck.

Proposed Historic Preservation Commission
The City of Bismarck has initiated work on a proposed Bismarck Historic Preservation Commission in an effort to become a Certified Local Government (CLG).  The commission and CLG designation would allow Bismarck to receive state historic preservation funds for the purposes of promoting and assisting with historic preservation efforts in Bismarck city-wide.  A public hearing on the proposed ordinance creating the Historic Preservation Commission will be held in January.
