Construction Season
It’s the old joke about the two seasons in ND, winter and road construction season. In the case of our growing Downtown, it’s just construction season. Some larger projects that have been in process since our other season, winter, are making spectacular progress. The 6th Street Parking Ramp construction has moved at a clip, with estimated completion date of early Fall. The Bismarck Civic Center Convention Expansion has also made great strides on to a completion date. Larger areas were “usable” for May’s Williston Basin Petroleum Conference, but full finishes had not yet been added. Work is beginning on the newly expanded west parking lot, aimed to replace a portion of parking now occupied by the expansion section. The new entrance on the corner of 5th & Front Ave is beginning to take shape. This will allow users to access the Downtown Parking Ramps while walking a similar distance to a Bismarck Civic Center entry point. The Cowan Building on 4th & Front Ave has completed most exterior work. Interiors are being worked on and can be built to suit for its new tenants.
Downtown News
Work is progressing with the Downtown Master Plan Implementation Team through the City of Bismarck. The Team was formed to implement portions of the newly accepted Downtown Bismarck Sub-Area Study (Or Master Plan). Co-chairs John Warford & Brenda Smith, who were sitting on the board of city commissioners at the time the study was completed, give great continuity in ushering the updates forward. Meetings are open to the public and minutes and agendas are posted on the city’s website, along with the full Downtown Master Plan. Get involved and champion a project you’d like to see happen in our community’s Downtown!
