Parking Improvements Downtown

You may have noticed that 6th St between Main Ave and Broadway had the westside converted from parallel to angled parking, making parking in that area more user friendly and adding five more parking spaces. Overall, it will increase utilization by eliminating the parallel spots which can leave half spots open due to vehicle length or timing of arrivals and departures. Angled spaces can only accommodate one vehicle, while also increasing handicap accessibility. Be sure to check it out! Thanks to the city for their work on this conversion.

Construction Downtown Close to Completion

Each week we meet with the City Engineering Dept and the contractors to get updates on the Main Ave Concrete Pavement Repair project. The good news this week is we are nearing completion (subject to something unforeseen)!

Update as of Monday Aug 3: “The contractor will be aiming to button up concrete repairs this week, tentative to finish all removal and replacement Wednesday. The sealing crew is continuing to prioritize intersections to allow for full opening and traffic movement, and will be continuing mainline sealing from 1st street moving east. They aim to have the west side of traffic control removed as they complete sealing and sweeping operations, and will coordinate that with the traffic control team as they are completed. Once all sealing operations are completed and traffic control is removed, they will be performing a mobile operation for pavement marking.”

Bismarck Depot Events

Tomorrow, Friday, August 6th is the Rumble at the Depot. Rumble at the Depot is a live pro wrestling showdown from Midwest All-Star Wrestling (MAW) at the Historic Bismarck Depot. The night promises top wrestling talent, food trucks, cold drinks, and a community of some of the most passionate wrestling fans in the Midwest together under the lights in downtown Bismarck.

Gates open at 5 and the first match starts at 6:30.

2026 Statewide Arts Convening

North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA) is pleased to announce that registration is officially open for the 2026 Statewide Arts Convening, a two‑day statewide gathering of artists, culture bearers, educators, arts leaders, and community partners. Held October 6-7 at the Bismarck Radisson, this convening centers on creativity, connection, and community well‑being and welcomes everyone interested in arts, culture, and heritage.

Our staff and/or board attend and participate in pertinent government meetings, communicate with applicable organizations, and work to provide a voice for the Downtown area and our membership. Member participation on the Downtowners committees and events is encouraged.

Each year, we organize Downtown events and fundraisers such as Street Fair, Small Business Saturday Neighborhood Event, The Downtowners Art & Wine Walk, Downtowners Walking Map, Burger Slam, Golf Fundraiser and much more. Downtown Bismarck is a destination, and we invite you to be a part of this revival.
