Downtown News

The Main Ave 4 to 3 lane conversion or “Road Diet” is currently being looked at by engineers at part of a project in the Downtown Master Plan.  The 3 lane conversion would be one east bound and one west bound lane, with a center-left turn lane.  This set up will move the same amount of vehicles as a 4 lane configuration with no turn lanes.  Look for the possible reconfiguration late this summer.

Ordinance #6111, relating to mobile vendors in the City of Bismarck, went through it’s first public hearing on April 28.  City Attorney Whitman said the proposed ordinance has been drafted to take the city’s existing mobile vendor policy adopted in 2012, and move it into an ordinance that is more enforceable.  The commission heard testimony and voted to continue the hearing, assemble a work group with representatives of all parties, and work on revisions to the draft.  Visit www.bismarck.org and look under the April 28 Agenda to review the proposed ordinance draft.
