Quiet Rail Zones have moved one step forward with BNSF contacting the City of Bismarck on possible construction timelines, including 2015 or 2016.  Additional safety features are schedule to be added to the crossings at 3rd, 5th and 12th Streets.  This removes the requirement of train horn noise at each crossing as a matter of routine.  Horns can still be sounded if there is low visibility, construction, or other temporary safety issues.  Quiet Rail Zones can be found in cities like Fargo, Jamestown and Medora among numerous other communities in ND.

An open house for the proposed Five South Development is scheduled for Thursday April 2 at the Bismarck Event (Civic) Center from 5-7pm.  Community members are welcome to attend.  http://fivesouthbismarck.com/
